Alan Grant is a senior actuarial manager in Milliman's Dublin office. He joined the practice in 2006.

Experience

Alan has extensive experience in the life assurance field, covering domestic and cross border business, non-linked, and unit-linked products.

He has led and contributed to a number of large actuarial modelling and reporting projects, many of which have involved the implementation of new financial reporting measures (Solvency II, IFRS 17, US GAAP, MCEV).
As well as designing and developing the required models, he has focused on ensuring that implementations include meaningful analysis, helping clients to communicate results at all levels up to senior management.
His in-depth knowledge of Prophet liability cashflow models and other modelling tools (Milliman Mind, MoSes, Excel) has helped many clients to transition to new platforms and to understand the impacts of modelling changes.
Alongside his modelling and financial reporting work, Alan has been involved in many other aspects of Millliman’s work, such as process reviews and M&A work.
In addition to his work with Milliman clients, Alan managed an actuarial reporting department in a large domestic life assurer for several years, giving him insight into the practical issues facing reporting teams.
